Trade brewing between Oilers and Predators!

Could this get done before training camp?

Chris Gosselin

Money is tight in Nashville and it is believed the Predators might be looking to make a move in order to get some breathing room. Hockey Patrol has reported rumours indicate that a trade could be brewing centered on Dante Fabbro and Philip Tomasino who could end up with the Edmonton Oilers.

Chatter has hinted at the Oilers looking for a boost on the back end, and Fabbro would be just that as a consistent, a right shot defenseman. He is only signed to one more year at a modest $2.5 million and Edmonton could be interested in getting him on board, especially after losing Philip Broberg to the St. Louis Blues via offer sheet.

Nashville would need that wiggle room as it has just over $3 million in projected cap space, plus both Juuso Parssinen and Philip Tomasino remain without new deals with training camp quickly approaching.

While rumours hinted at a potential trade involving Fabbro and Tomasino, who could fill the gap with Evander Kane landing on the long-term injured reserve, Fabbro remains the centerpiece to join an Oilers defensive corps that already has former Predator Mattias Ekholm.

As of now, this is just speculation, but the trade would make a lot of sense as both Fabbro and Tomasino do not look to have a future in Nashville. This could be time for a fresh start in Edmonton with the Oilers more than happy to add key pieces to their roster for a long and, hopefully this time, successful shot at the Stanley Cup.
