We’ve been hearing a lot of trade chatter out of Vancouver in the past, especially when it came to star forward J.T. Miller. However now, the focus is on teammate Conor Garland, who lands at the centre of a trade rumour with the Los Angeles Kings.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, talks have picked up between the Kings and Canucks, though LA is not willing to move a first-round pick in the transaction.

The 26-year-old Garland signed a five-year, $24.75 million contract with the Canucks after being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes this past offseason. He does not own any no-trade protection and comes with a $4.95 million salary cap hit and it sounds like he could be on the move again.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets also add interest, but you heard Friedman, talks are picking up in Los Angeles.

In 57 games with the Canucks so far this season, Garland has tallied14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points and might continue his production down south if a move takes place.
