Trade brewing in Vancouver amidst surprising season start!
The Canucks have been the most active team behind the scenes:

The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly busy, looking to make a trade. They currently sit second in the Pacific Division with 15 points through 10 games. And they also want to come out on top of the trade market.
“[Management] believe in this team. I’m hearing the Canucks would like to add they’re trying to get better. It’s not easy in a capped-out NHL. I’m not saying anything is imminent, but I am saying they’re working the phones big time,” Rick Dhaliwal explained earlier this week.
“It’s a good start, but they don’t want to sit idle. They’re working the phones, trying to get something.”
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman confirmed the report when he explained in his 32 Thoughts column that the Cancuks are indeed active behind the scenes.
“Most active team behind the scenes: Vancouver. The Canucks like what they’ve seen so far. Their best players look great. They want to add, and don’t want to toss in sweeteners to do it. A hockey move with the hope to create cap room. When others are ready, they’ll be waiting.”
The Canucks have already pulled a move earlier this season when they were part of a four-player trade, acquring defenseman Mark Friedman, who has stepped into a top-four role alongside Ian Cole.
The biggest constraint for Vancouver remains the salary cap. Friedman points out that they are not looking to toss in any sweeteners, but with only a current cap space of $162,500, per Cap Friendly, they will need to get creative to make a deal.
It has been reported in the past that the Canucks would ideally prefer to move forward Conor Garland and his $4.95 million salary through 2025-26, but no one has come calling with a reasonable offer so far this season.
Reports have mentioned how the Nashville Predators, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres have investigated about a potential transaction with Vancouver, but for now, fans will have to wait and see if Canucks’ management can add some more talent to the roster.
If they do, they will be hard to stop. The Canucks destroyed the Sharks in San Jose last night, crushing them 10-1.
