Trade rumors: 30-goal scorer pushed on the trading block!
Keystone Press

We’re a little more than a month away from the opening of the 2017-18 season, and already players are caught up in the rumor mill, sitting ready on the trade block.

Matt Larkin of The Hockey News has revealed the names of 10 trade candidates for the upcoming campaign, and though some have been mentioned throughout the summer, others are just getting started to get dizzy in the mill!

Thinking about trading players might be a good thing for the Buffalo Sabres, who will have to dish out a lot of cash to Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart and Robin Lehner, who will be restrictif free agents next summer .

"They could combine to eat up about $20 million on their extensions starting in 2018-19," explains Larkin.

It would make sense to move forward Evander Kane at the Trade Deadline and save money to give to key players.

The Hockey News does not believe the Sabres will clinch a playoff spot this spring, and Kane could be traded, he who will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

" It thus might make sense for Buffalo to move on from Kane and deal him at the deadline."

He is a physical winger coming off a 28-goal season and he could become a significant rental add-on for a Cup contender.
