Despite his Penguins missing out on the postseason for the past two straight years and them starting what looks like a full rebuild, superstar Sidney Crosby is not expected to leave Pittsburgh. Yes, despite all the ongoing rumours that are sending him away in a blockbuster trade.

In the past months, Crosby has been linked to the Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens, with Pierre McGuire recently providing an example of what it would take for the Habs to acquire the Penguins’ captain:

-a first-round pick

-a top prospect

-AND and NHL player (“and a great one at that”) to land Crosby.

Are we talking about a player like Nick Suzuki, or Ivan Demidov, or what about Calder winner defenseman Lane Hutson?

However, Pens insider Dan Kingerski claims enough is enough and that there are no signs that Crosby will leave Pittsburgh. He even reports that Crosby is fed up by the ongoing trade rumours and that he signed up for the Penguins’ plan.

“Crosby signed up for this. He knew the score, and general manager Kyle Dubas has made a point to be transparent with Crosby about the process. Despite some assertions to the contrary, we do know what Crosby is thinking. He has asserted numerous times that he’s here for the long haul,” Kingerski writes.

He adds: “After the talk mushroomed back in January, a line of reporters were waiting after a practice in San Jose to ask Crosby the question again. A Penguins team source pulled a couple of reporters aside (including PHN) to say–No. Crosby isn’t thinking it, isn’t considering it, he’s getting a little annoyed by it, so just save your breath.”

Crosby has extended his contract to 2027 and many fans and pundits do no expect him to leave the Penguins. His loyalty to the team has been mentioned every single time a trade rumour has come up.

Kingerski is adamant that until Crosby is the one saying anything about the possibility of leaving the Penguins, there is no truth to the rumours buzzing around the league. Crosby is the only one who knows, has remained quiet and even pissed about the chatter and I guess we should wait and see if he ever brings it up to be sent to a contender.

Until then, we apparently need to let it go.
