The Boston Bruins have undergone major changes this offseason, losing the likes of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi, Taylor Hall, Dmitri Orlov, and Nick Foligno, and now chatter re-emerges that forward Jake DeBrusk could be next.
The forward rescinded a trade request out of Boston and agreed to a contract extension, but can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. This prompted The Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa to wonder if DeBrusk, along with teammate Matt Grzelcyk have long-term futures in Boston.

This is what DeBrusk himself had to say about his next contract and whether it will get done by the Bruins.

“You need two sides to tango."

“Whenever that happens, it happens. But it’s one of those things where it’s not necessarily my main focus. Obviously it’s a big year for our team in general. I know if I’m doing my part and having success with production and certain things, it’ll help our team. I think it goes hand in hand.”

If ever DeBrusk becomes a trade bait in Boston, it will likely come near the March 8 trade deadline. It all depends what the Bruins can pull off this season and where they sit in the standings.

DeBrusk scored 27 goals with 23 assists in 64 games played in 2022-23.
