Trade talks between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks appear to be heating up, and this will be a situation worth monitoring given the fact that these two sides have reportedly been going back and forth for a while now.

On Saturday night, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that talks between the two sides have been re-engaged. Friedman highlighted that reports this week have indicated that the Canucks are interested in acquiring veteran forward Pavel Zacha, with Friedman confirming those reports beyond any doubt.

"That's true," revealed Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "And I think it's been going on for quite some time, all the way going back to the summer. The Canucks and Bruins have been on/off about this."

Zacha has come out of the gate hot this season with 2 goals and 7 assists already to his name, a total of 9 points through the first 10 games of the season, and it comes as no surprise that interest in the NHL veteran has gained steam as a result. That being said, Friedman believes there is no sense of urgency here on the part of the Bruins, who are likely waiting for a better offer before making the deal.

"Zacha is not in the last year of his deal, teams are looking for centers, Boston doesn't have to do anything here it doesn't want to do," admitted Friedman.

The Bruins have quickly found themselves in the bottom of the Atlantic Division's standings to start the season, with only the Tampa Bay Lightning who have played 2 fewer games registering fewer points, so trading Zacha for assets that will help them build towards the future would make sense. There is some good news for the Canucks on this front as well, which was also highlighted by Friedman on Saturday night.

"One thing about Vancouver in this case, I do not believe they are on Zacha's no trade list," revealed Friedman.

Definitely one story worth keeping a close eye on in the coming days.
