Travis Konecny Caught Dropping F-Bombs On NHL Referee.

A hot mic might get the Flyers forward in trouble with the NHL.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny was really, really unhappy with this call on Saturday night.

In what was the opening period of a matchup between the Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes, Konency was called for a hook that clearly wasn't a hook with a little over 6 minutes left to go on the game clock. While it was clear from the video replay that Konency's stick had made contact with Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin, and could have easily been called a slash, the hooking call that did come down seemed a little silly.

Konency however didn't think it was so silly and when the call was made he seemed to lose his cool completely, yelling at the referee so loud that his verbal tirade was captured on the official's mic.

"Are you f***ing insane?" exclaimed Konecny who was clearly outraged with the call.

If that wasn't bad enough, Konency continued that verbal tirade as he was being escorted over to the penalty box, although we unfortunately didn't get to hear the rest of his thoughts.

Full credit to NHL referee Morgan MacPhee however as he let the insult roll of his back and didn't so much as acknowledge Konecny's verbal tirade as he skated away. He could have easily given Konency an additional penalty, or even a 10 minute misconduct, but even the referees in hockey are built tougher.

You can see the replay of the brief, albeit hilarious, exchange just below:

Konecny could very well land himself in some hot water with the league however, especially after doubling down in his post-game comments.

"I think it's frustrating," said the Flyers forward of the officiating. "Just go watch some of them, and you will know my frustration."
