I think I'd take being a scratch over having to fight Olivier...
It's safe to say at this point that Edmonton Oilers GM Stan Bowman may have a little buyer's remorse over Trent Frederic.
Bowman and the Oilers of course signed Frederic to a very risky eight year contract worth $3.85 million this past offseason and after just 16 games of a possible 656 regular season games under this deal things aren't looking so hot.
Frederic has just one goal in 16 games to start the season and has been an absolute no-show on most evening. The thing is though, he was never signed to score goals. Frederic was signed to lay hits, drop the gloves and add some size to the Oilers' lineup... but he hasn't done much of that either.
After getting called out for his lack of physical play following the Oilers' 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday evening, Frederic decided to drop the gloves with the toughest man in the NHL: Columbus Blue Jackets forward Mathieu Olivier.
Things didn't go according to plan for Frederic...
Check out Olivier absolutely tuning Frederic up in a very one sided scrap this evening:
Yeesh...
Call me crazy but I think I'd rather be a healthy scratch than take a beating like that...
