Trevor Zegras has been traded.

We have a huge trade in the National Hockey League!

In an official announcement on Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers have confirmed that they have acquired forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Ryan Poehling, a second round pick at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and a fourth round pick at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

This trade now finally brings to an end the trade rumors that have hounded Zegras for years, with it becoming very clear over the years that Zegras and the Ducks were simply not a good fit for one another.

Zegras is coming off of a tough season in which he only appeared in 57 regular season games, but despite that maintained a decent level of production with 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points over that stretch.

Poehling, the other player in this deal, has spent the last two seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Flyers after spending some time bouncing around the NHL. Poehling appeared in 68 games for the Flyers last season and had 12 goals and 19 assists for a total of 31 points.

The Ducks not only receive more assets in this deal, a pair of picks on top of acquiring Poehling, but they will also see a significant cap savings by trading away Zegras to the Flyers. Poehling is in the final year of a contract that carries an average annual value and cap hit of just $1.9 million per season, while Zegras' current contract comes in at a cap hit of $5.75 million per season.
