The Edmonton Oilers have had goaltending issues for some time now, but those issues may have ramped up significantly since what now looks like the misguided trade to acquire goaltender Tristan Jarry.

This past week, Oilers insider Bob Stauffer revealed that Jarry hasn't exactly been endearing himself to his new teammates with Stauffer revealing the nature of a heated exchange during one Oilers practice.

"There's some extraneous things that have me quite concerned with Tristan," said Stauffer on Oilers Now. "I can read between the lines of what was going on on the ice yesterday in practice and there seemed to be some salvos flying. I didn't like that that Jarry, when the Oilers lost 7-3 to Minnesota, talked about how the team is playing defensively in front of him."

Stauffer is employed by the Oilers so if he's speaking out on this topic it's a bad sign for how Jarry has been received by his teammates. That was further exacerbated when National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman touched on reports of Jarry clashing with his teammates.

"There's a lot of talk out there about Jarry got into it in practice with some of his teammates out there," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. "It's been a hard year for the Oilers."

You would be hard pressed to argue that the Jarry experiment has worked out with the veteran goaltender recording a terrible 3.96 goals against average and a .862 save percentage over 13 games since joining the Oilers. The fact that the trade is now also causing internal issues could very well spell a disaster for the Oilers who are in a tough fight just to make the playoffs this season.
