TSN analyst laid off after making insulting comments about peaceful protestors

His rants against "Woke Culture" and his insensitive comments are seemingly what led to his firing.

Lost in the shuffle of broadcast news this past week is the news that TSN has let go of analyst and former NHL defenseman Marc Methot.

Methot's coverage will be replaced by a rotating crew of analysts highlighted by Cheryl Pounder, Frankie Corrado, Mike Johnson, Marc Denis and Paul MacLean.

From TSN:

"For the 2025-26 season, TSN's live regional coverage of the Ottawa Senators features a multitude of TSN Hockey personalities. Gord Miller, Kenzie Lalonde, and Matt Cullen deliver the call alongside game analyst Jamie McLennan. Claire Hanna hosts live panel coverage with a rotating crew of analysts and special guests, including Cheryl Pounder, Frankie Corrado, Mike Johnson, Marc Denis, and former Senators head coach Paul MacLean."

When pressed for details of Methot's departure from the broadcast team, TSN wouldn't get into specifics, saying only:

"The personalities across all TSN panels can change and evolve from season to season. We're looking forward to delivering great regional coverage of the Ottawa Senators for TSN viewers."

Methot, of course, was popular with Senators fans for having no filter and for offering up some pretty scathing criticisms. He didn't like to sugar-coat his analysis and Sens fans appreciated his forthrightness. But it's that same mentality that may have earned him his dismissal.

Methot has never been one to hide his opinions, whether they be hockey opinions or political opinions. Some fans believe that Methot's outspoken-ness on social media is what led to his dismissal from TSN. He has ranted before about political correctness and "Woke Culture" on social media and a post from late last month drew some pretty significant negative attention.

Replying to a post about a pro-Palestinian protesters in downtown Ottawa, Methot replied, "I can only imagine the smell down there.'

He then went on a rant about "weird antifa people" and called out another person for being vaccinated.

For what it's worth, Methot commented on his dismissal just hours after the news broke. He says there's nothing but love from his end and that he'll now turn his focus to coaching his son's minor hockey team.
