Coming off a great 5-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, the Golden Knights are well rested. They are set to take on the Montreal Canadiens at 7 PM on home ice.
Fleury will earn another start this evening against the Habs and will look to continue his great run of form, exception made of his no-show performance against the Colorado Avalanche last Friday. The Golden Knights had kept a relatively stable lineup over the past week or two, but coach Gallant has made a few welcome changes to it ahead of tonight's game.
Two of Vegas' key players make their way back into the lineup. Defenceman Nate Schmidt will reintegrate the squad after being out with lower body injury since the season opener. He should play to the right of Brayden McNabb on the first defensive pair. Winger Alex Tuch is also back from injury and should feature on the third line alongside Cody Glass and Cody Eakin.
Backup netminder Malcom subban is also back from injury and will be on the bench for the Golden Knights this evening.
Centerman Nicolas Roy who scored his first NHL goal on his debut with the Golden Knights on sunday was reassigned to the Chicago Wolves along with d-men Nicholas Hague and Jake Bischoff.
Here is the projected lineup for the Golden Knights according to NHL.com correspondent Danny Webster:
Jonathan Marchessault - William Karlsson - Reilly Smith
Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Mark Stone
Cody Glass - Cody Eakin - Alex Tuch
William Carrier - Tomas Nosek - Ryan Reaves
Brayden McNabb - Nate Schmidt
Shea Theodore - Deryk Engelland
Jon Merril - Nick Holden
Brandon Pirri will be the only healthy scratch while Valentin Zykov is still suspended.
Max Pacioretty will have another opportunity to put up numbers against his former team this evening. On the Montreal side, former Golden Knights Nick Suzuki and Tomas Tatar will also look to have an impact.
It should be a fun one to watch.
