Two biggest offers for Mitch Marner exposed!

You just know Marner will get calls from all over the league… and huge offers! More below:

Chris Gosselin

Most hockey fans expected forward Mitch Marner to test free agency on July 1st and not return to the Toronto Maple Leafs. While many insiders have already stated that Marner could very likely end up with the Los Angeles Kings or Vegas Golden Knights, Chris Johnston believes the two biggest offers for Marner will come for two different teams. One in the Eastern Conference and one in the West.

“Carolina, Chicago expected to make the some of the biggest offers to Mitch Marner moneywise,” Johnston stated on his own podcast.

There is a feeling out there that the Blackhawks’ front office will be aggressive on the market this summer to bring in top talent for Connor Bedard. Per Scott Powers of The Athletic, it is true that the Hawks are highly interested in Marner, but may not be able to outbid other clubs to sign him. Plus, there is a sense that Marner will not be interested in joining Chicago, a rebuilding team, seeing that he’s still young and could have an immediate shot at the Stanley Cup with a better team.
Which brings us to the Hurricanes. They were ousted in five games by the Florida Panthers last month in the Eastern Conference Final, and need to make some changes to get further next spring.

However, when it comes to Marner, rumours emerged that around the trade deadline, Marner rejected a trade to Carolina that would have sent back, in part, Mikko Rantanen to the Maple Leafs. Rantanen was moved instead to the Dallas Stars, where he signed a long-term contract.

We all know that many suitors are going to come for Marner, who recorded 27 goals and a career-high 102 points in 81 games with the Maple Leafs this season while playing out the last of a of a six-year, $65.41 million contract that carried an annual cap hit of $10.9 million . The 28-year-old forward added two goals and 13 points in 13 playoff games. He has to know how much he is worth on the open market.

Let’s see what happens with Marner this summer, as other clubs, including Vegas, Los Angeles and Utah Mammoth are expected to make him an offer once free agency opens.
