A trio of National Hockey League veterans has been placed on waivers today.

According to a report from National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman, forwards Joey Anderson (Chicago Blackhawks) and Givani Smith (San Jose Sharks) as well as defenseman Caleb Jones (Los Angeles Kings) have all been placed on waivers today.

Jones is the most experienced of the 3 men with 247 NHL games under his belt, only 5 of which have come this season as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. Jones has registered no points in those games and currently boasts a plus minus rating of -2 on the season. Jones is currently on a 1 year deal with an average annual value and cap hit of $775,000.

Anderson has appeared in 163 games throughout his NHL career, 12 of which have come this season as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Anderson has a single point this season, an assist, and currently boasts a plus minus rating of 0. Anderson is also currently on a 1 year deal but carries a slightly higher cap hit of $800,000.

Last but not least is former Detroit Red Wings second round pick Givani Smith who has 161 games of NHL experience under his belt. Smith has appeared in just 6 games this season for the San Jose Sharks, has no points, and boasts a plus minus rating of -1 on the season. Smith also carries an average annual value and a cap hit of $800,000 but is currently in year 2 of a 2 year deal.

All of these players can be claimed by rival teams around the NHL, although a claim does seem relatively unlikely given that they are all fringe players at this stage of their respective careers.
