The Toronto Maple Leafs look like they will be significantly weaker when they face the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.

On Saturday morning, the Maple Leafs hit the ice for practice but were missing not one but two of their forwards. Both star forward William Nylander and forward Dakota Joshua were notably missing from the ice and it sounds like both have been sidelined for the time being.

In an official announcement, the Maple Leafs department of public relations has confirmed that both Nylander and Joshua are out due to illness. While this is bad news it is better than the alternative and should mean that both players will be back in the lineup in relatively short order.

As you might imagine this has resulted in a significantly different look when it comes to the Maple Leafs forward lines, lines that were on full display during the morning skate. Here is how the Maple Leafs lineup looked ahead of their matchup with the Oilers and with both Nylander and Joshua out of the lineup.

Although the absence of Nylander and Joshua is a tough break for the Maple Leafs, it wasn't all bad news on Saturday. As you may have noticed, Oliver Ekman-Larsson was on the ice with his teammates which is a very good sign. There was concern that Ekman-Larsson would be out for a while after being injured earlier this week against the San Jose Sharks, but Ekman-Larsson appears to have dodged the worst of it.

Ekman-Larsson has even informed reporters that he will be ready to play tonight, a great sign for the Maple Leafs, although his teammates in Nylander and Joshua remain game time decisions.
