Two offers already on the table for Dylan Larkin!

This has escalated so quickly since Larkin requested a move out of Detroit.

Earlier this month, Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin requested a trade out of the organization and the rumour mill has been spinning out of control since. The bombshell news emerged after the team missed the playoffs for the 10th time in his 11 seasons with the franchise.

However, huge obstacles are in the way for general manager Steve Yzerman to pull the trigger on what will be a monster move. Larkin is signed through the 2030-31 season and wields a full no-trade clause (NMC), and therefore holds significant control over his destination. He reportedly submitted a short list of just three preferred contending teams, including the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.

And according to insider Elliotte Friedman on Wednesday morning, he has a feeling Minnesota and Florida have already sent in their best offers for Larkin and it’s now up to Yzerman. He also suspects other teams have started to make offers as well.

Ever since Larkin has made his request public, analysts and pundits have begun to speculate on potential trade packages.

While for now trade offers have remained speculative, it is obvious that the Red Wings would need immediate, high-value assets to replace their franchise center, and a successful package from his preferred suitors would likely have to part with a significant haul. Some insiders believe a return for Larkin would likely require a first-round draft pick, an elite-tier prospect (such as a top-line center or goaltender), and a young, NHL-ready roster player.

The problem here for the Wild is that Minnesota has already parted with a massive haul when it came to acquiring star defenseman Quinn Hughes earlier in the season. Hughes cost the Wild top prospect Zeev Buium, Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren and their 2026 first-round pick. Some interesting prospects are left to include in an offer, like Charlie Stramel and Danila Yurov, but I’m not sure it would be enough to sway Yzerman.

When it comes to the Panthers, they do have more than $15 million in cap space, and most of their pending UFA skaters play lower in the lineup. However, don’t look asset-rich enough to make a compelling offer for Larkin unless they’re willing to part with Anton Lundell.

For now, there is no offer from Vegas, but that’s not surprising since the

Golden Knights are currently engaged in the Stanley Cup Final, meaning serious negotiations with Vegas are on hold.

Everyone across the NHL is keeping a close eye on what could be the blockbuster of the summer.
