Two players on waivers today, including Alex Texier and his $4.2 million contract

This just in, the St. Louis Blues have placed forward Alex Texier on waivers and the Buffalo Sabres have placed defenseman Mason Geertsen on waivers.

Incidentally, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reports that if nobody claims Texier off waivers by this time tomorrow then the team and the player may explore terminating his contract.

I can only assume that the reasoning for this is that Texier would prefer to return to Europe than accept an AHL assignment. He's in year two of a two year, $4.2 million deal.
