Two-time Cup Champion back on the free agent market due to “insurance complications.“

Earlier this summer it looked like the National Hockey League career of veteran forward Kris Versteeg was coming to an end following the announcement that he had agreed to terms with Bern of the Swiss League, now however it sounds like the Stanley Cup Champion is coming back to North America.

The very same man who reported his departure, TSN insider Darren Dreger, is now reporting that a complication regarding insurance has resulted in Versteeg once again being on the free agent market, and furthermore Dreger indicated that Versteeg intends to return to North America.

It's unclear what if any teams would be interested in the experienced veteran, the fact that he made the decision to sign with the Swiss League this summer had led some to believe that he had not received any offers from teams in North America. However one would believe that if he is coming back to North America as Dreger reports it's because he believes he has something on the table here.

This close to training camp for the regular season we expect that if an announcement is coming in this regard it will be coming very soon.

Update: According to Dreger the insurance issue was related to Versteeg's medical history and was not caused by any issues to his current health.
