It’s be reiterated by the man himself: Jakob Chychrun has confirmed last week that he still wants out of Arizona. The defenseman has been linked to the Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs though now insider Frank Seravalli reports that recent chatter might point to two of those contenders getting out of the sweepstakes.

Seravalli believes that both the Oilers and Maple Leafs had interest interest it doesn’t appear either club has their sights set on acquiring him.

“The Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been mentioned recently as teams that may be interested in Jakob Chychrun, and I think those are conversations that maybe happened a long time ago, and certainly not anything recent. I don’t get the sense that the Oilers or the Leafs have their radar sights set on adding someone like Jakob Chychrun.”

Last week, TSN’s Darren Dreger pointed out that the Coyotes keep informing everybody that they’re willing to be patient, though it is believed they have softened to some degree at least in their expected return and are more willing now to take on a contract or contracts. GOPHNX.COM’s Craig Morgan believes GM Bill Armstrong wants assets that would include at least one first-round pick plus a top prospect or a good young NHL player.

With patience set in Arizona and the price high, especially for Edmonton and Toronto, we get why the Oilers and Maple Leafs are reportedly out.

Speculation has ramped up around the Chychrun’s trade watch, but it sounds like less teams need to be monitored with two contenders stepping out at this time.
