Here we go again.
The Detroit Red Wings have been anything but healthy and at full strength this season, with multiple players having missed large chunks of time with various ailments.
Of course, we all remember forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who broke the 30 goal plateau for the first time in his career last season, breaking BOTH of his hands in separate shot blocking incidents and missing a combined total of nearly three months of play. Jakub Vrana hasn't suited up for the Red Wings since the second game of the season after having entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Robby Fabbri and Jake Walman each missed the first portion of the season while recovering from offseason surgery - and that's just to start with.
And now, it looks as though there could be another issue with Bertuzzi. During last night' game at T-Mobile Arena against the Vegas Golden Knights, Bertuzzi was noticeably absent for the second period and didn't make an appearance on the bench.
According to head coach Derek Lalonde, Bertuzzi was dealing with a lower body injury and was kept out of the game as a precaution; the good news is that it isn't expected to be a long-term issue.
The Red Wings earned a much-needed 3-2 victory over the Golden Knights, and return home to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena.
