Tyler Bertuzzi scores natural hat trick on opening night! (VIDEO)

The rugged forward is having himself a night!

20 years ago, Detroit Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan tallied three goals in his team's opening night victory. Of course, that team was stacked with a dozen future Hall of Fame players led by Scotty Bowman himself.

This year's edition of the team isn't quite that stacked, to put it nicely. However, history is repeating itself. Forward Tyler Bertuzzi has tallied a natural hat trick against the Tampa Bay Lightning, scoring all three of his goals tonight in the 2nd period at Little Caesars Arena in his team's opening game of the season:

Bertuzzi is playing in his first NHL game since January, when his season was prematurely ended thanks to a back injury that would eventually require a surgical procedure to correct. But at the time of his injury, he was leading his team in scoring. And he's already grabbed firm hold of the team scoring lead tonight in the young season.
