With one other team in the mix, per Darren Dreger.
In case you missed it last night, the Vancouver Canucks sat veteran defenseman Tyler Myers for their matchup against the Winnipeg Jets due to trade considerations.
Sources say Myers was presented with a trade option earlier this week and is taking his time to evaluate it with his agent, J.P. Barry.
Last night Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Citizen reported that the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, and the Utah Mammoth all could be in the mix to acquire Myers.
Today though, TSN insider Darren Dreger is reporting that the "target" team appears to be the Red Wings, with the Stars also reportedly in the mix.
From Dreger:
We can only speculate as to what the return might be for Myers in Detroit, but suffice it to say that this won't be a blockbuster deal by any means. The 36 year old Myers is in the second year of a three year deal that pays him $3 million annually and if the Canucks were to retain half of his cap hit... well suddenly Myers looks really, really appealing.
Of course, Myers holds a full no-trade and no-move clause so that explains why he's taking his time with this move. Stay tuned.
