He wants out!

The Tyson Barrie era with the Edmonton Oilers came to a close last season, as he was traded by general manager Ken Holland along with 2022 first-round pick Reid Schaefer, and Edmonton’s first- and fourth-round picks in the 2023 Draft to the Nashville Predators for defenseman Mattias Ekholm.

However, it doesn't look like Barrie will be Nashville his new long-term home. Earlier today, it was confirmed by the Predators that he's been given permission to seek a trade from the Predators and will not be playing tonight against the New York Rangers.

Barrie, who can become an unrestricted free agent after this season, has only been able to register three assists in 22 games played this year, a far-cry from his productive year last season of 85 games (split between the Oilers and Predators) and 13 goals with 42 assists.

He currently carries a cap hit of $4.5 million.
