If I had told you earlier in the day that Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Reaves and Arizona Coyotes enforcer Bokondji Imama would drop the gloves during the game tonight, there's a good chance you would have been very hyped up for the game.
That's almost what we got on Sunday night when the Coyotes and the Wild clashed, and it would comes as a result of a punishing hit from Reaves in the opening minutes of the game. Reaves flattened Coyotes defenseman Juuso Valimaki with a monster hit against the boards, less than 3 minutes into the game, and it would be only seconds after the hit that Boko Imama would make his presence known.
Imama went after Reaves and signaled that he wanted to drop the gloves, with Reaves quickly answering the challenge, but instead of a slug fest between two heavyweights we were treated to perhaps the most boring fight in the history of the National Hockey League.
Both men appeared hesitant to make the first move and when Imama finally went for a lunging shot on his opponent, Reaves merely stepped aside. Reaves would then proceed to lock up the massive Coyotes forward in a clinch/headlock until the officials stepped in and separated the two men.
