With tons of changes happening in Boston, Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk is willing to take on a bigger role this season. And he was certainly inspired by his former captain, Patrice Bergeron, when he went out of his way last week to make young fans happy.

Kris Noble shared on X that he held a birthday party in his neighbourhood and the kids were playing road hockey. It just happens that DeBrusk lives on that street and the forward came out with a signed, game used stick and hung out with the kids.

What a guy!

It is so good to see DeBrusk’s turnaround in Boston, he who initially requested a trade out of Beantown before signing a two-year, $7.35 million deal in Nov. 2020. He is now entering the final season of his two-year, $8 million contract that he signed in March 2022. He could become free agent for the first time at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
Fans are hoping DeBrusk picks up where he left off in 2023, setting a career high in points last season with 50 (27 goals, 23 assists) in just 64 games.

The Bruins will need DeBrusk to be at his best with the voids left on the roster, especially by Bergeron’s retirement. And it looks he is definitely taking the right steps, even in the offseason, to be inspired by Bergeron and his good-guy attitude.
