The latest update on the Oilers’ star forward
Terrible news emerged on Tuesday when it was confirmed by the Edmonton Oilers that star forward Leon Draisaitl is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a lower-body injury.
However, on Wednesday, general manager Stan Bowman revealed that Draisaitl does not have to undergo surgery.
“If everything goes as scheduled, he should be back at end of the regular season,” Bowman shared, via Elliotte Friedman.
Draisaitl got injured on a hit from Nashville Predators forward Ozzy Wiesblatt during the first period of Edmonton’s 3-1 win on Sunday.
He headed to the dressing room, returned for one shift before the end of the period, but was not on the bench to start the second frame. Draisaitl did not practise with his teammates on Monday and has been ruled out since.
The Oilers did not provide more details about his injury. The star centre has 35 goals and 62 assists over 65 games for the Oilers this season.
The post-season is scheduled to begin the weekend of April 18-19 and thee Oilers currently second in the Pacific Division standings. With good news in hand.
