The Ottawa Senators officially opened their 2023-24 regular season last night with a 5-3 loss the the Carolina Hurricanes. But, if you watched the game and you've followed this team at all this offseason you'll know that forward Shane Pinto was absent from the lineup.
That's because the 22 year old forward has yet to sign a contract with the Senators despite the fact that he managed to put up 20 goals last season playing in a somewhat limited offensive role. The Senators are capped out though and reportedly last offered Pinto just a one year deal worth $1 million. That ain't gonna cut it...
So, if you're Shane Pinto and you're sitting around waiting for the phone to ring what do you do?
Well, evidently you start a firestorm of controversy on Twitter by engaging in Philadelphia sports media. Because that's exactly what Pinto did earlier today by commenting on a post concerning Philadelphia Phillies 1st baseman Bryce Harper. Specifically, Harper was talking about the passion that he has for playing in Philadelphia. Pinto replied with a GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) emoji.
