Less than one month after captain Mike Fisher led his team to the Stanley Cup Final, it’s unthinkable to imagine him not back with the Nashville Predators for the 2017-18 season. Yet, here we are four days into the official offseason and Fisher remains without a contract.

Technically speaking, Fisher is free to negotiate a deal with any NHL club, but insiders around the team know that Fisher’s heart belongs to Nashville. If he returns for another NHL season, it’ll be with one team and one team only: the Preds. One team insider, Brian Lawton, published a report on social media earlier today that indicates Fisher is leaning towards a return:

C’mon, Poile! You HAVE to bring our captain back. While he may not be the player he once was, he proved his worth to the team during this past year’s Stanley Cup run. Fisher was dominant in the faceoff circle and his “whatever it takes” attitude and work ethic is infectious.
