We reported yesterday that NHL legend, and one of the best to ever play the game Gordie Howe had suffered a serious stroke. Now we have some additional details and unfortunately the news does not appear to be good. It is being reported that Gordie Howe has lost all function on the right side of his body, his son Dr. Murray Howe commented on the situation, and was slightly more positive, saying "The right side of his body is very, very weak. He's unable to stand without help. He's able to speak, but very, very difficult to speak." Hopefully it is just extreme weakness on his right side. Howe's daughter Cathy also acknowledged that his speech is slurred, and that he had lost most of the function is his right arm and leg, but she also remains positive, she has been showing him pictures of family and of his playing days in the past, Howe has been able to recognize people he played with in the past, something the Howe family sees as good news. Perhaps the best quote from Cathy Howe was "We'll just see what each day brings," she said. "He's tough. He's not giving up." Tough sounds like a word we would all attribute to Gordie, here's to hoping he gets better, we will keep you posted. Breaking News: "I feel like this is his final lap around the rink," said Murray Howe, to Helene St. James and George Sipple from the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday. "I'm guessing that he's not going to recover ... but then again, he's about as strong as they get. If anybody can do it he can." Again our thoughts are with the Howe family.
