Andrew Desjardins of the Chicago Blackhawks sustained an early injury at the start of the 2016-2017 NHL regular season when he blocked a powerful shot during a match-up with the Nashville Predators.

Since then Desjardins has been on IR and was predicted to be out of the game for 4-6 weeks. For two weeks, no news on his recovery or status was announced but it was confirmed recently that he might be about a week or so away from being able to return to the ice.

This would mean that his time off the ice would be more like 2-3 weeks which would be great because the Blackhawks could use him right about now.

Cross your fingers for Andrew Desjardins and cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks as they take on the New Jersey Devils this Friday at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
