This was tough to watch.
It was a scary scene tonight at Amalie Arena, as Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane had his wrist accidentally cut by the skate of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon.
A profusely bleeding Kane immediately rushed to the bench in obvious distress:
The Oilers have provided the following update on Twitter:
"After suffering a wrist injury early in the second period, Evander Kane is stable and has been transported to hospital for a procedure later this evening."
According to Oilers beat writer Gene Principe:
"He has a deep cut on his wrist. He was stabilized and has gone to the hospital. Kane will have surgery on his wrist. He will be OK."
