UPDATE: Star Player Benched

The Chicago Blackhawks have been making some interesting line changes since the start of the 2016-2017 NHL regular season.

Offensively a few adjustments between games was helpful to determine which lineups work best and provide the ultimate results.

Defensively the pairings tend to be the same from one game to another unless a key player is injured or suspended like Niklas Hjalmarsson was.

Blackhawks fans were excited when Brian Campbell made his return to the Chicago roster and as far as we know he has no injury or illness preventing him from hitting the ice.

Joel Quenneville did say that he did not want the same guys on the bench every game in order to balance out the defensive groups ice time.

Trevor van Riemsdyk seems to be the one replacing Campbell on the third line and is expected to pair up with rookie Gustav Forsling for tomorrow night's face off with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

It's interesting how most of the defensive line changes are between veteran players whereas rookies like Michal Kempny and Gustav Forsling seem to have cemented decent ice time since the start of the regular season.

Watch tomorrow as the Chicago Blackhawks face off against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena at 7:00 p.m. (ET).
