The Americans thoroughly dominated a one-sided game in prelim action
Team USA thoroughly dominated Team Canada in a lopsided 5-0 victory during preliminary action of women's hockey today.
Canada was forced to play without captain Marie-Philip Poulin following an injury in yesterday's game over Czechia, but that hardly seemed to matter today. The truth is that USA would have won this game even if Poulin were in the lineup for Canada. Hell, USA would have won this game if Poulin, Gretzky and Orr were in the lineup for Canada.
USA dominated the game from the 1st period on and never really looked at risk of losing this game.
The Americans came on strong in the 1st period and simply took over the flow of the game.
Starting the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead the Americans scored a somewhat controversial goal the proved to be the back breaker for Canada.
It was at this point that Canada seemed to stop pushing and merely accepted a lopsided defeat.
It'll be interesting to see how Canada re-groups after this decisive loss, as they are still considered a top contender for the Gold Medal along with USA.
