For the first time in history, Utah will be home to a National Hockey League franchise. It became official last month with the sale of the Arizona Coyotes to Ashley and Ryan Smith of the Smith Entertainment Group, who own the Utah Jazz of the NBA.
Right now, no official re-branding has taken place, and there are several potential nicknames being worked on. It was already announced that the team will simply feature "Utah" on the crest of their inaugural season sweaters while an official nickname remains in play.
But for now, it appears as though the temporary logo the franchise will be using has been leaked!
Meanwhile, Ryan Smith made a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, revealing that the franchise is reportedly down to four names being considered - with Yeti and Mammoth being a pair of the possibilities.
“We’ve got our four…I think Mammoth is up there, I think Yeti is up there…it should be good," he said.
