Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander is going to be getting a call from the NHL Department of Player Safety thanks to his being assessed a match penalty and an ejection from tonight's game against the visiting San Jose Sharks.

With 1:29 remaining in the second period at Rogers Arena, Hoglander was checked by Sharks forward Kevin Lebanc. After being sent to the penalty box, a short convening of the on-ice officials would result in Hoglander being thrown out of the game for "intent to injure". As you can tell by the look on Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet's face, he clearly did not agree.

Take a look at the incident and be the judge for yourself:

As it happens, there was only one incident of supplemental discipline for a slew foot last season, as Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman found himself $5,000 lighter in the wallet after slew-footing former Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.

What kind of penalty should Hoglander, who has never been suspended in his NHL career, face?
