The Golden Knights coach pulls out a rare mid-game tactic to spark a comeback.
With the Dallas Stars dominating and holding a 4-1 lead over the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night, head coach Bruce Cassidy had to pull out a move he hadn’t tried in more than a decade.
During the second intermission, Cassidy held an in-game video session: a rarity in his coaching career.
“He said it’s probably the first time he’s ever done it in the middle of a game in 10 years,” team insider Jesse Granger noted.
The tactic appeared to work. Vegas stormed back to tie the game 4-4, forcing extra time, though the Golden Knights eventually fell in a shootout.
It’s a reminder of Cassidy’s influence and ingenuity behind the bench. Even in high-pressure moments, he’s willing to think outside the box to motivate his team.
While it didn’t result in a win this time, the mid-game video session underscored why he’s respected as one of the NHL’s top coaches.
