A brutal break at the worst possible time for this team.
UPDATE: ESPN has now confirmed that Vegas Golden Knights forward William Karlsson has been taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
Read below for our earlier report on this developing story.
We're nearly through 40 minutes of play in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final and it looks like the Vegas Golden Knights have lost one of their top line players.
Centerman William Karlsson, who plays the pivot between Mitch Marner and Brett Howden left the game mid-way through the second period after taking a heavy hit.
Karlsson left for Vegas' dressing room immediately after and has not returned.
Vegas' trainer came out of the room moments later to relay some news to head coach John Tortorella and Torts was NOT having it.
It's not 3-1 Carolina and Vegas is without one of their top players... something's gotta give.
