A veteran National Hockey League defenseman was left looking for his teeth after a high-stick busted him open on Wednesday night. 

26-year-old Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitri Orlov went down in a heap in the final minutes of the second period and while it looked like the officials missed the play initially, NBC analyst Pierre McGuire caught it all.

McGuire immediately called out the fact that Orlov had been on the receiving end of a high-stick from Chicago Blackhawks winger Ryan Hartman, and he also immediately informed the broadcast crew that there was both blood and teeth on the ice.

Apparently Orlov was looking around for his teeth but according to the commentary from McGuire, one of the NHL linesman on the ice picked them up for him. Here's the replay:
