Veteran of nearly 700 NHL games could very well be claimed.
A veteran of nearly 700 National Hockey League games has suddenly found himself placed on waivers over the weekend and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see him land on a new team before the weekend has wrapped up.
On Saturday, the Anaheim Ducks officially placed veteran defenseman Nick Jensen on waivers in spite of the fact that Jensen has played well for them in his first season with the Ducks. That includes Jensen's most recent game, one in which he picked up a point and played over 14 minutes for the Ducks, which was just this past Thursday in a tough loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Jensen has 2 points in the 3 games he's played for the Ducks this season and has averaged a little over 15 minutes of ice time a night over those games.
The veteran blue liner has a wealth of experience under his belt having already appeared in 697 regular season games throughout his career and is in the first year of a 2 year contract that has a relatively manageable cap hit of $2.25 million per season. It doesn't help that Jensen is the only player on waivers today, meaning that he will be the only player teams will be eligible to submit a claim for.
