Vicious sucker punch takes out top 6 forward.

Losing one of your top six forwards on a play like this has to be extremely frustrating.

According to a report from Joe smith of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Cooper has confirmed that forward Nikita Kucherov was injured on Sunday after he was the victim of a charging sucker punch from Columbus Blue Jacket's defenseman Dalton Prout.

The whole thing started when Columbus' Nick Foligno made contact with Lightning goalie Ben Bishop behind the net, causing Bishop to fall to the ice which was quickly followed by a scrum behind the net. While it may be hard to see the sucker punch initially when first watching the video, pay attention to the very beginning of the scrum. It begins with Andrej Sustr and Kucherov two on one tying up Foligno, and that is when Prout comes charging in, and delivers the sucker punch to the jaw of Kucherov as he enters the scrum. It's roughly at the 0:15 second mark in the video.

Update: Here's a better angle although the video quality is pretty bad.

Update: According to Aaron Portzline of the columbus Dispatch the NHL will review the punch.
