Video: Brutal hit leaves player with broken back and punctured lung,

This is one of the most vicious hits of the season.

24-year-old defenseman Anthony Calabrese suffered some brutal injuries when he was the victim of an ugly cheap shot during a match up between the Norfolk Admirals and the Atlanta Gladiators.

Calabrese was drilled from behind by Tyler Murovich and while the hit looks bad, the injuries suffered by Calabrese were even worse than you would initially believe. Calabrese suffered multiple fractured vertebrae as well as a punctured lung and has already stated on the record that he feels lucky to be alive after the hit.

Murovich has been suspended twelve games for the offense, but when considering the nature of the injuries to Murovich one has to wonder if 12 games is enough.
