Wholesome moment in the crowd, heartbreak for the Panthers. Watch it all below:
Fans believe Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday was heading to second overtime when Florida Panthers forward Tomas Nosek put the puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty. He was sent to the penalty box and, for there, saw Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl score the game winning-goal giving the local team the 1-0 lead in the series with the 5-4 overtime win.
The goal was amazing, the penalty heart-breaking, but late on Thursday, a new video emerged of who caught the flying puck and the reaction in the Edmonton crowd.
Video captured a young kid actually catching the puck that went over the boards with his bare hand and then his immediate reaction to the Oilers’ power-play. The footage is just heart-warming to watch:
On most replays of Nosek’s critical penalty, we can clearly see Oilers defenseman Jake Walman laughing in the Panthers forward’s face as he has to go to the box.
Poor Nosek’s botched defensive zone clear and ended up skating back to the Florida dressing room to the sounds of “La Bamba” in a jam-packed Rogers Place.
At least, he made one hockey fan extremely happy with a video for the memories.
