Video claims to show an intoxicated Connor McDavid.

A video has begun making the rounds that purports to show Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid in an advanced state of inebriation in the late hours of Sunday night and/or the early hours of Monday morning.

The video, which was published by of all things a Johnny Gaudreau parody account, claims that McDavid is hammered in the video although there's no actual evidence of the presence of alcohol. That being said McDavid can be seen walking awkwardly in the video as an unidentified woman in the video leads McDavid around by the arm/hand.

The person filming the video can also be heard commenting on McDavid's allegedly inebriated state when he utters "God damn is he hammered" while also referring to themselves as "paparazzi."

Additionally, if there was any doubt about the fact that McDavid is the man in the video the person filming also managed to dispel that as well. Towards the end of the video the person filming can be heard yelling out "Hey, Connor" before McDavid turns his head around to see who was calling his name just a moment ago.

Although the video has quickly made the rounds on social media it must be said that McDavid is a grown man and is of course more than capable of making grown up decisions for himself. If he wants to go out and have a few drinks after his team has been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, I don't think for a second that anyone is going to hold it against him. Especially when you consider the work McDavid puts in during a season in the National Hockey League, I doubt very much that fans will begrudge him blowing off a little steam.

In case anyone has forgotten, this is a guy who put up 44 goals and 79 assists for an unbelievable 123 regular season points in just 80 games played, if anyone deserves a little rest and relaxation after this season McDavid is definitely on the list.

The Oilers were eliminated one week ago today after being swept in 4 games by the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final, and McDavid won't have another game to play until the preseason at the earliest.
