The Detroit Red Wings appeared well on the way to another embarrassing setback against the Pittsburgh Penguins through the first 20 minutes of tonight's game at PPG Paints Arena. Despite outshooting their opponents, the host Pens were able to put four pucks past goaltender Ville Husso, who saw his time in the crease end at the intermission.

Enter Magnus Hellberg, making his second appearance for Detroit this year after being re-acquired via waivers. His key save on Penguins captain Sidney Crosby early in the 2nd period paved the way for what would be an absolutely incredible comeback victory by the Red Wings thanks to subsequent goals from Dylan Larkin and Joe Veleno. In the third period, Detroit roared all the way back with tallies from Jonatan Berggren and David Perron, shocking the mostly-Penguins heavy crowd.

Shortly into overtime, it was defenseman Jake Walman completing the comeback with his first goal in 15 games, with an absolutely epic celebration:

“I was lagging a little bit at the beginning, but I was able to get the full Griddy,” Walman said of his celebration afterward

“It was an accumulation of good work,” Walman continued. “After that second and third, I think we deserved at least that point.

“It was a great game and I think the boys showed a lot of resilience. We knew it wasn’t good enough after the first period and we dialed it in after that.”

Needless to say, this is a HUGE victory for the Red Wings.
