Video of Tortorella finding out about Michkov’s signing an autograph once he got ejected has surfaced
You have to watch this. Classic Torts, who could make his rookie player pay!
On Sunday night, Philadelphia Flyers rookie forward Matvei Michkov was ejected from a game for the first time in his NHL career after he threw a few punches at Utah HC forward Barrett Hayton right in front of the officials who were in the process of trying to break apart a scrum that had formed along the boards. With Philly trailing late in the contest, the officials simply made the decision to toss Michkov right then and there.
As he made his way out and into the tunnel, Michkov stopped in front of his adoring fans to sign at least one autograph which could be clearly seen on the jumbotron in the building.
You can see Michkov signing the autograph towards the end of the video below:
Footage has now emerged of head coach John Tortorella being informed about Michkov’s bold move. At first, Torts revealed that he has not seen the video of his young player signing an autograph in the crowd, and then asked what the rookie did. When told that Michkov signed a water bottle, Tortorella appears shock, asking when the Russian player did that and repeating that he did not see the video.
You can tell however how Torts is obviously pissed at Michkov for acting this way, and you have to wonder what the head coach could say to him know that he knows what happened!
Yikes!
