If you haven't been paying attention the battle between the Philadelphia Flyers and Vincent Lecavalier it has quickly become one of the uglier battles between a club and one of their players in the NHL. It started with then head coach Craig Berube and many felt when he was replaced that the issue would die down a little, but general manager Ron Hextall made it clear he doesn't think a change of coach will lead to a change in team philosophy at least as far as Lecavalier is concerned. Today Kent Hughes, Lecavalier's agent made it clear to the Flyers that his client was prepared to sit out as many games as necessary to collect the $13.5 million dollars left on his contract. Hughes stated that the Flyers have not discussed a buyout with him(something many believe Lecavalier wants) and furthermore Hughes stated that Lecavalier would not be consiering retirement "under any circumstances." So it seems for now at least, unless Hextall can pull off a miracle trade, that the team is stuck with him. Image courtesy Key Stone Press.
