Marc-Andre Fleury’s night was perfect. The night started off with a celebration of the Minnesota Wild goalie as Fleury was honored with a pregame ceremony for reaching 1,000 games, which he achieved on Dec. 31. He moved into sole possession of second place on the NHL’s all-time wins list in mid-January with his 552nd victory, only trailing Martin Brodeur (691) in that category. And tonight, he got number 553 thanks to some late heroics in the third period as the Pittsburgh Penguins attempted to tie things up.

However, Vintage Fleury was on tonight, and made a terrific desperate save to get the 3-2 win over the Penguins.

With the win tonight, Fleury also improves to 5-4-0 all-time against the Penguins. He could finish his NHL career with a winning record against his former team.

Before the game got underway, a special tribute was put together was Fleury and he got to see a special video tribute and get a custom mask depicting all four NHL teams he has played for and a silver stick.
When the video was playing, it was easy to see how emotional and grateful Fleury was, and the camera even caught Penguins captain Sidney Crosby enjoying all the attention on his former teammate and close friend.

Crosby managed to score the second goal of his Penguins on his former teammate, but it was not enough in the end to get the victory over Fleury.

The goalie was named first star of the night and received a thunderous ovation for his performance in the Wild’s win.

Love it!

Fleury is currently in his third season with the Wild after starting his professional career with the Penguins after being selected first overall by the organization back in 2003. He played his first 13 seasons and won three Stanley Cup championships: 2009, 2016 and 2017.
