We hear often that hockey is no longer what it used to be. Fights are less frequent and intense, players bleed less often and the overall pace of play lowered drastically. To be honest, the game is exciting enough whether the fights happen or not, but it's always good to get legendary fights out of the vault once in a while.

Back in 1978, the Habs dynasty was in full swing and the rivalty with the Big Bad Bruins was intense. Each night, there was a very good forecast of fights and dirty hits in the air. May 21st, 1978 was the time Pierre Bouchard, a renowned and respected Habs tough guy, was rocked by the ever fearless Stan Jonathan.

Keep in mind Bouchard is 6'2'' and Jonathan is barely 5'9''. The scrap was as intense as it came back in the days and it changed the dynamic between the teams for years.

Good old hockey!
