It doesn't matter how old you get or what heights you reach in your professional career - your parents are going to be backing you 100% of the way, and that couldn't be more true for Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews.

Matthews continued his scorching red hot scoring pace during last night's game at Mullett Arena against the Arizona Coyotes, his childhood team who were the source of his getting into the sport of hockey that he now dominates. Naturally, he reached the 50 goal mark in just his 54th game in his native state.

And of course, his parents Brian and Ema Matthews were in the crowd and had a camera on them to capture the moment that their son became the fastest active player to reach 50 goals, besting last year's 61 games it took Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid to accomplish the feat:

For Matthews, what he's doing on the ice can certainly help draw in younger fans of the game, as he was once by the Coyotes as a youngster himself in Arizona.

“I hope it’s something that they can take and maybe be inspired by, encouraged by," Matthews said when asked what effect he hopes his most recent accomplishment can have on young players. "Like I said this morning, it doesn’t matter where you’re from if you dream hard enough, work hard enough, you can make those dreams come true. For myself, I just feel very grateful to be in the position I’m in, and whatever I can do to keep that going, I want to do it.”
